Ebook Special Prices!

I decided to hold a “Taxes Are Done, Done, Done!” sale and put a few of my books on special for a limited time. Thus, for a limited time, you can get:

Edit: That sale is now over. But everything below is still true.

Meanwhile, the prices are coming down on my other books sold through E-reads. It’s taking a while for the price drops to trickle down, but in the Kindle store, you can now get:

Maybe you can show them that lower prices are better! Those prices should appear in all the other stores eventually–I hope sooner rather than later.

Watch for an announcement soon about Dragon Space, my new omnibus of Dragons in the Stars and Dragon Rigger. I recently put the cool map created by Ellisa Mitchell on my website, here. It’s being incorporated into the new ebook, as well. I’m just waiting for the cover art to be finished. I’m very excited about it.

How is it working with Smashwords? I'm currently reading through their 85 page (!!!) styling guide in preparation for my first foray into published work. Just need to get the formatting right and I'll be ready to go.

Good luck with that, Tim. That style guide can be daunting, but if you follow it, you'll be in good shape for uploading to Amazon and BN, too.

SW is okay as a distribution channel to Sony, Apple, Kobo, etc.–but it accounts for a pretty small percentage of my sales. Most are through Amazon and BN.

that's kind of what I was wondering…they have a Kindle format but that doesn't actually publish to the Amazon store? Do you still have to separately publish through Amazon's DTP?

and…I thought BN was part of what smashwords publishes to as well. but from your comment I'm wondering if tat is separate as well?

    Thanks in advance.

Tim, SW will create a .mobi book that can be read on a Kindle. But they don't (currently) distribute to the Kindle store. Most people find they get more sales in the Kindle store than in SW, so they do both.

For BN, you can opt to distribute via SW, but I don't recommend it. If you go direct through Pubit, you get a higher percentage, you get it sooner, and you get sales reports in realtime.

ahh good things to know. I had never heard of Pubit, though it stands to reason that BN would have their own equivalent of Amazon's DTP.

    Thanks Jeff.

I bought the First 3 Chaos Chronicle novels from Sony. I must say that I have never been a big sci-fi fan, but I certainly do love your novels. They are original and enthralling. I am so glad to have found them.

Hey Cher — Thanks for the kind words! I always like to hear that someone enjoyed the books, but in particular if you don't usually like SF, I take that as a big compliment! 🙂
